SALWACO MD Embarks on Nationwide Station Assessment Tour
Day One Covers Makeni and Magburaka; Kabala Up Next
The newly appointed Managing Director of the Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO), Ing. Tiideni Hawa Jabbi, has embarked on a ten-day nationwide assessment tour of all SALWACO stations in the provinces, beginning with visits to the Makeni and Magburaka stations. The tour continues tomorrow in Kabala.
During engagements with staff and management, the MD outlined her vision and 100-day assumption of office plan, emphasizing the need for every SALWACO station to develop a business plan and that the strategic leadership will subsequently develop a performance management system to ensure the stations achieve effective service delivery on their business plans. She reaffirmed her commitment to improving operational efficiency, strengthening accountability, and enhancing service delivery nationwide.
In Makeni, the Station Manager, Ing. Emmanuel Fanday Bayoh highlighted both achievements and challenges, especially the need to further boost monthly revenue, strengthen community engagement, and improve internal systems. Staff expressed their readiness to work in alignment with the MD’s new direction.
At the Magburaka Station, the Station Manager, Augustine Hotagua, welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for the MD’s decision to begin her tour in the provinces. He emphasized the station’s determination to support corporate goals, noting ongoing progress at the facility and identifying areas requiring urgent intervention. He assured that the Magburaka team remains fully committed to advancing the MD’s vision and strategic plan, as well as improving service delivery to residents.
The Director of Operations, Ing. Abdul Ben Lebbie, officially introduced the MD to staff in both stations and noted that several of the challenges raised by the station managers have already been addressed, while others will be tackled with the support of the new leadership.

The Director of Project Management, Ing. Yankuba Jusu Tarawally, disclosed that SALWACO will soon roll out its prepaid metering system, with 30,000 prepaid meters expected shortly to enhance billing efficiency and revenue collection nationwide.
Chairman of the SALWACO Board of Directors, Mr. Joseph Joe Ndanema, encouraged all stations to embrace innovation, adding that SALWACO must work toward expanding its service portfolio, including the introduction of bottled water production. He assured the Board’s full support to the MD in driving transformation across the company.
